Tonight's special guest is David L H Finch from Far North Queensland in Australia,  a survivor of severe childhood abuse. His book, 'Here There Be Monsters' chronicles his youth and how he learned to become a survivor. It is David's hope that other survivors of abuse might find healing upon reading his book. I normally focus more on the recovery and healing process. But he's here today to tell his story to try to help others in need." David tells us about his work: "His book is a memoir of his violently abusive childhood, his escape and learning to live after traumatic abuse. The message he hopes people will take away from this book is that abuse victims can become survivors. There is life, trust and love after abuse. Most of all there is hope." He explains, "I thank the pandemic for the flood of memoirs about abuse. This was a project of twenty five years. Flash forward to three years ago, He started it completely over, He was no longer an angry man venting at the world, screaming 'look at me .. this happened to me'." He goes on, "I had somehow found the grace to separate myself from the anger and write it out as it happened, leaving the listener/reader to make the decisions of what happened back then, I had found my center. This book is the result. This is non-fiction so easy right? Not really the subject matter is brutal and triggering to many who have read it. I plan on spending the rest of my life trying to educate people on the survival and prevention of child abuse. Teaching people how to detect child abuse. Teaching parents how to be able to raise their children without abuse."
