Squeaky Reads from Nature, Man, and Woman by Alan Watts

Published: May 19, 2020, 10 p.m.

Gather round the campfire, lovelies, for a new episode of Squeaky Reads! I’m diving into some sweet philosophical ponderings this week with Alan Watt’s “Nature, Man, and Woman”. This slender volume is packed with illuminating ideas about the nature of humanity. The selection I chose, from the chapter “The World as Ecstasy”, explores humankind’s propensity to move away from feeling, particularly from feeling pain. So often, we tend to withdraw not just from discomfort, but from the ability to feel discomfort. In this avoidance we start to withdraw from our very humanity. Hope you dig it! |
