We have embarked upon a slower journey through a little letter in the New Testament of the Bible. It is the letter the Apostle John wrote to his local communities of disciples of the risen Jesus (1John).\\xa0

Today we hear John speaking of \\u2018the world\\u2019. He actually urges us to \\u2018not love \\u2018the world\\u2019 or anything in it\\u2019.\\xa0

This may seem a little confusing coming from the Apostle who gave us that most famous bible verse of all bible verses:

\\u201cGod so LOVED THE WORLD that he gave his only Son so that all may believe and be saved\\u2026\\u2026\\u201d.

John means something a little different than we might expect when he speaks of this \\u2018world\\u2019 in which we are called to live out the truth of the gospel by faith and in love.\\xa0

He is very aware and very realistic about the forces at work in \\u2018the world\\u2019. He urges us to be aware of who we are in Jesus, and what our identity and purpose of living \\u2018against the flow\\u2019 still mean.\\xa0

May you be given a great anchor point for living in this interesting and often deceptive world and all that is coming at you puling you away from the \\u2018new world\\u2019 of light and life in Jesus the Anointed Saviour of the world.\\xa0
