Best Soundtracks: O Brother, Where Art Thou?

Published: Sept. 29, 2021, 2 a.m.

Welcome back Reel Friends! This week, our hosts Alex and Walker were gifted the category of movies with the best soundtracks. The duo decided to stay away from original scores, and focus on movies that utilized songs to further the plot of their story. After some great mentions, Alex's pick of O Brother, Where Art Thou? was ultimately chosen. "Ulysses Everett McGill (George Clooney) is having difficulty adjusting to his hard-labor sentence in Mississippi. He scams his way off the chain gang with simple Delmar (Tim Blake Nelson) and maladjusted Pete (John Turturro), then the trio sets out to pursue freedom and the promise of a fortune in buried treasure. With nothing to lose and still in shackles, their hasty run takes them on an incredible journey of awesome experiences and colorful characters." This Coen brother film is a wonderful tale, resembling the story of Homer's The Odyssey. With a band name like The Soggy Bottom Boys, our hosts were in for a special treat with this wonderful soundtrack. Sit back, relax, and enjoy this week's episode of Spin The Reel!
