Great Question: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow - Ken Wetmore

I hear questions all the time about the great difference between the angry “Old Testament God” and the loving “New Testament God.” So much of the Bible is poetic, metaphoric, and prophetic. If it was written by people within a variety of ancient cultures without benefit of the scientific and technological understandings of today, how can we understand these inconsistencies? How literally should we take Scripture?”

This week’s #WholeLifeReflections asked:

 • Think back to your childhood. How does our understanding of your parents differ from then to now? How does that metaphor help you with understanding the Old Testament God, New Testament God, and the God you know today?
 • What do you do when the Bible conflicts with evidence/science? Do you believe the Bible is right and we aren’t understanding the evidence/science correctly or do you believe that the Bible is wrong, or do you have another way of looking at it?”
 • What role does the Bible play in your life? How foundational is it to your worldview?
