More Than Believing

Being a Christian requires continual commitment of one’s self to a living Lord.  This commitment depends on a relationship of love and obedience – like a marriage is supposed to be.

It’s like the guy that says I believe in marriage; I’m sold on it.  I’ve read a lot of books. I am an expert of the subject.  Plus, I’ve been to a lot of weddings.  That is also the guy that doesn’t understand a thing about marriage.

We just smile because maybe we are just like that guy.  We don’t know the Lord Himself.
Jesus said in Matthew 7:21-23,

Not every one that saith unto me, LORD, LORD, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22Many will say to me in that day, LORD, LORD, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Entering the kingdom is not a matter of using correct vocabulary or going through the proper motions, salvation is not earned by obedience.  But the issue of obedience is the evidence of our life transforming experience of new birth, a life of willing commitment to Jesus as Lord.

The bible says in the Book of John, 1 John 2:3 by this we may be sure that we know him, if we keep his commandments…

Faith in its very nature demands action.  Faith is action, never a passive attitude.

Are you making decision in your day to day life that includes Jesus?  Are you talking with him and asking Him what you should do? how you should respond?

Bible Reading starts in Matthew 27
