You probably haven\'t noticed it until now, but the truth is that there are many ways to talk about money in English. \\xa0

Today you will learn many expressions that people in the US use when referring to the American dollar.

I\\u2019ll start with the most popular ones:\\xa0 bucks, dough, bread, cheddar, paper, Benjamin, Benji, etc.\\xa0

The following terms are outdated or rarely used:\\xa0

bones, scratch, cheese, lettuce, salad, chips, cake, and cabbage.\\xa0

The dollar has also been referred to as a "bean" or \\u201cbone."

Buck- is slang for one U.S.\\xa0dollar

The expression comes from the 18th century when deer (buck) skins were used as currency. \\u201cBuck\\u201d is still one of the most commonly used terms in the U.S. for money to this day.
