Thank you for joining us in our last show of 2020 as this is an episode you don't want to miss.

Today we are taking a trip to New York to visit with a beautiful young woman called Vala. She is going to be sharing  her story with us and with a lot of courage about getting to the root of why she turned to drugs to cope.

Vala describes her first experience with heroin and trying to chase that initial high without ever feeling the same as that first time and what a person's body goes through when detoxing and getting clean from heroin.

She shares her song Follow Me with us and her music background. Vala talks about how she started playing piano at seven years old, then guitar at ten and then got into rapping and writing.

Follow me is a song that she wrote based on conversations and life experience in support of suicide prevention and mental health issues .

She's always been into Hip hop, jazz and blues but some of her music taste has changed a little in sobriety with certain songs reminding her of times when she was strung out and how far she has come since then.
