This time I stayed in Milan, where I continued the conversation with Alessandro, italian documentary filmmaker.

This episode is in 2 parts: the first one was a lighthearted conversation during breakfast. Now it’s evening, we talk after a full day of work and reflected on dreams, what makes them happen and we talked also about memories that will stay forever.

We have many learning moment in our life, many turning points, some of them unexpected. Referring to his favourite book The Shadow-Line, short novel  by Joseph Conrad, he says ‘We don’t have one shadow line in our life, we have many’.

What makes a dream come true?

Sometimes it’s a matter of timing, sometimes it’s a matter of turning negative situation and believing in an old project, sometimes it’s learning from mistakes.

Alessandro shares all the experiences that were truly turning points for his own life.

He got the chance of his life of directing exactly the way he wanted and learned along the way how to become a better director. Another shadow line, as he mentioned in the first part of the interview a metaphor of growing from challenging situation.

The secret for a good direction? He learned the big lesson: you need to keep control, but also let the things happen - it’s a matter of balance.

And about my dream to become a director? Let’s say, everything is possible…but it would include some hiring…
