Today\\u2019s guest is my new friend, Kate Daudy. This conversation could not have been more genuine, and honestly, I forgot I was recording this for an audience. This is Slo Mo at its most authentic.

Kate is a British visual artist and writer, recognized for her work exploring and re-evaluating the human experience in the context of the natural world. Known for her written interventions in public and private spaces, Daudy\\u2019s work is based on an ancient Chinese literati practice.

Living and working in London, her observations have fed into an array of artistic disciplines including sound work, film, performance, interactive collaboration, photography, sculpture, large-scale installation and more recently a book. Daudy exhibits worldwide and is also engaged in regular philanthropic and activist commitments. As one reviewer stated, much of her artistic work is intended not to survive, relishing the transitory nature of our existence on this earth, a love of the gesture for its own sake and a rejection of consumerism.

Listen as we discuss:

  • The feminine vs. the masculine perception of time
  • My new book, Scary Smart, and what it's all about. (Kate interviews me a bit)
  • Kate's creative process and her new show about chaos with Anna Gammans and Nobel prize winner Professor Sir Konstantin Novoselov (WONDERCHAOS)
  • What makes something "art", even if it looks ordinary and uninspiring to others?
  • Kate's powerful work with refugees through her art.
  • How Kate balances her art and activism with being a mother of three.
  • Stories of how her kids react to our own silly parent moments.
  • The effort required to really feel like you're on holiday.
