Thoughts are like birds: sometimes they fly by and sometimes they flock around your head cawing. If you want to be rid of a thought it's beat to acknowledge it somehow. You can either write a list of them or you can talk about them. Either way, this 'naming' of things somehow gives you power over them. Just try it.
