Why We Are Breaking Up With Australia

Published: Aug. 12, 2020, 7 a.m.

Welcome to our first episode of Similar Differences with Angelica & Inez.

An interstate friendship that explores the nuances of diversity, culture, and identity. In this episode, we talk about Riz Ahmed's The Long Goodbye where he personifies Britain as his abusive ex and the stages of the break up he goes through.

We speak about what stage of the break up we are at with Australia and how Australia has a controlling hold on how we can express our intersectional identity.

If Australia sent you a 3 am miss you text, would you reply?
Let's discuss on our Instagram page @similardifferencespodcast

Our podcast acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea, and community. We pay our respect to their elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today. We recognise our privilege as migrants recording on this land and know that it always was and always will be Aboriginal land.
