General Moseley received baccalaureate and master degrees in Political Science.

An accomplished fighter pilot, he served as an instructor, flight lead, and mission commander, amassing over 2,800 hours.

In 2001, General Moseley assumed command of the U.S. Central Command Air Forces, overseeing all air combat operations in the Central Command Area of Operations, subsequently becoming Vice Chief of Staff for the Air Force.

He was named the 20th Chief of Staff of the U.S. Air Force in July 2005. Military decorations include the rare Defense Distinguished Service Medal, the Distinguished Service Medal, the Defense Superior Service Medal, and many others.
