For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you." (Acts 17:22-23 KJV)\\n\\nThe intellectuals and philosophers of ancient Athens were renowned for their wisdom and knowledge. Yet, as Paul observed, they remained steeped in idolatry and superstition. Though prideful of their learning, their incomplete knowledge of God led them to erect an altar to an "unknown god" just to cover their bases.\\n\\nEven today, in our modern age of science and technology, many rely more on the limited scope of human understanding than on the infinite wisdom of God. Though we have progressed far in many areas, mankind\'s core struggle with idolatry remains unchanged. Our sophisticated idols may take different forms, but the sin is the same. Intellectual pride breeds spiritual ignorance.\\n\\nTrue wisdom comes not from man, but from the fear of the Lord (Psalm 111:10). If we rely only on our own faulty wisdom, we too shall find ourselves worshiping from a place of ignorance. Like the Athenians, even those most learned among us must humble ourselves before the one true God. We must cast down the altars we have built to the idols of self, pleasure, and pride. Then we shall know the truth that sets us free from sin\'s deadly grip (John 8:32).\\n\\n"But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy."
