Philemon

The book of Philemon is one of the shortest books in the New Testament. It is a letter written from Paul to a wealthy man named Philemon in the city of Colossae who hosted the Colossian church in his home. Paul encourages him to accept back his runaway slave, Onesimus, who has met Paul in Rome and become a believer. This short letter shows a warmth and pastoral side to Paul. It is a letter which challenges our views and practices of socio-economic and class segregation - calling for believers to treat one another as equals and family in Christ.
