Cars and trucks are not the only powered vehicles that ply our nation's roads. Often seen but rarely talked about are the 8.6 million registered motorcycles in America that account for 3% of all registered vehicles but 14% of all traffic fatalities. Contrary to popular belief, single vehicle crashes, that is, just the motorcycle is almost as deadly as colliding with another vehicle - which is still the leading type of motorcycle crash.
