Lunar Mobility Competition Heats Up

Why would a company doing business in a capital intensive marketplace, spend millions of dollars on an extremely low volume (read one or two) vehicle that may never travel more than 100 miles in its lifetime?  Because of where it will be used.  Much like the effort to put a man on the moon in the 1960's spawned a variety of earth-bound innovations and inventions, so will the current push.  Hyundai and Kia are two automakers that are working with research institutes to develop mobility solutions to explore the moon.
