Youngest daughter of the well-known former champion amateur, trainer and television pundit Ted Walsh, Katie Walsh is one of the leading Irish amateur riders. She has a string of big race successes to her name including the Kerry National in 2014 and the biggest prize in Irish jump racing, the Irish Grand National, in April 2015, becoming only the third woman to ride the winner of the race. Three years earlier she rode her father’s Seabass to finish third in the Aintree Grand National, which was the best position ever attained by a female rider in the race. Katie enjoyed her first Grade 1 success when partnering the Willie Mullins-trained Blow By Blow to win the attheraces.com Champion INH Flat Race at Punchestown in 2016.
