Science can only move forward when a minority goes against the consensus and develop a new theoretical framework that can accommodate a new square peg observation that the majority are struggling to fit into the current round hole.  Saying the science is settled as with climate change is largely spoken by people who do not understand how science works and are using it as a tool for their own propaganda.  Those in finance strangely seek consensus to avoid looking stupid.  When something goes wrong it is better that everyone fails at the same time.
