#26 Mum Guilt

Authentic conversations about the mess and magic of motherhood.
Do you find motherhood hard sometimes?
Do you struggle with finding a balance in parenthood, your career, relationship and lifestyle? Are you a new mum that still tries to figure it all out?
This is the podcast for you!

Every fortnight we provide you with inspiring stories and helpful resources from mamas just like you. So you know that you are not alone and hopefully it empowers you to find the right balance for you.

This week is all about Mum guilt.⠀
We all know about it, we all experience it on a daily base. When we put our kids in front of the tv for the third time because we need to finish some work; when we give them that damn chocolate chip cookie to just enjoy one minute of peace and quiet only to pay for it 10 minutes after #sugarrush
In these moments, how is our self talk? What are we actually saying to ourselves? ⠀
In this episode we look into guilt and shame and the difference between the two based on Brene Brown’s research and her podcast ‘Unlocking us’ and especially focusing on our self talk as mothers and also how guilt and shame and their different meaning are impacting our parenting.⠀
We will always experience mum guilt. There is no way around it. ⠀
We all make mistakes and in that case, feeling guilt is actually promoting positive change.⠀
Yet most of the time, we feel guilty because we put ourselves first. And as mothers we need that, to simply keep it together, take a breath and keep going. So in that situation, tell your monkey mind to f off.⠀
I keep banging on about this:⠀
A mother’s mental health is the most important of all. ⠀
I see you, I feel you, you rock xo
