Episode 39

We arrived in Clearwater Florida on 1/16/20
We got set up in the PassportAmerica RV park (check out RelaxRV.org/discounts for a link to them) they had a great band that evening. The next day we visited my brother Mike and his wife Jen. He had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's and his prognosis is not good. His wife Jen is doing a great job taking care of him. If you know of someone who's taking care of a loved one try to encourage the caretaker to take care of themselves. As I reflect on my brother Mike and his wife that reminds me of how precious life is and how fleeting it can be at times. Make time to have fun and do what you love. Live the life that you want to live. For me I took a huge penalty for retiring early. My pension was cut by almost 1/3. But this reminds me you cannot put a price on time. So I had adjusted my finances earlier in life so I could live this life now. I know there's a lot of younger folks listening to this podcast and take my advice, take care of your future self while you're young. Eat Right exercise and watch your money.
That day I spent a few hours with my brother well Trish and Jen went out and got lunch for themselves. The next day we went to the RV super show in Tampa it was a Saturday so we figured it would be packed and parking was going to be a pain. We were wrong on both accounts we parked at 11:00 a.m. and we were a 2 minute walk to the gate. At the Hershey RV show it took us about 10 minutes to work to the gate. The temperature was $12 to get in and that got you free admission the next day. Years ago I bought a book by John Huggins how to survive an RV show

It came in handy today.
We had packed food and snacks and drinks in our pack when we got to the ticket booth we saw a sign that's a no outside food or drinks so I walked back to the car put all that stuff back and came back to the ticket booth. I shouldn't have done that they never checked our packs. Once we got inside we were pleasantly surprised there were bands playing, bagpipers, clowns, a guy on stilts. None of this was at hershey. At Hershey the food was all heavy and expensive. At Tampa that was light Fair food choices and we got a huge chef salad for 10 bucks. They had rides for kids and a lot of seating and benches which Hershey did not have. At Hershey we had to leave the fairgrounds to go get some healthy food for lunch and then come back. They both tout themselves as the largest RV show, we don't know which is bigger and it doesn't really matter Tampa is better. The next day we spent again with my brother Mike and Jen Trish brought Jen over to our rig where they sat and had a glass of wine while I again hung out with Mike. Then Jen had a sitter come over and spend time with Mike and three of us went to dinner at frenchy's on the beach in Clearwater which has always been our go-to place with them. The next day we drove the rig two and a half hours to Sebring Florida. This was a boondocker welcome location (check them out at relaxrv.org/discounts ) and we would be there for one night. We left home 5 1/2 weeks ago and this was only our second one night stay. The next day we started heading south towards Miami.
