Holy Week 2011
\\xa0
Holy Week is the time in which we commemorate and relive the days surrounding Jesus\' crucifixion and resurrection.\\xa0 It is a week without parallel in the Church year.\\xa0 All people are invited to attend all of our services.\\xa0 Members of our church are especially encouraged to come to as many of the services as they are able.\\xa0

Holy Week Service Schedule

April 17: Palm Sunday: Sunday services begin outside.\\xa0 9:00 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.
April 18- April 21: Eucharist every day at noon in the chapel.
April 20: Tenebrae: 7:30 pm
April 21: Maundy Thursday: 7:00 pm
April 22: Seven Last Words: noon-3:00 pm
April 22: Stations of the Cross: 6:30 pm
April 24: Great Vigil of Easter: 5:00 am
April 24: Easter Services at 9:00 am and 10:45 am

April 18-21, noon
Noontime Communion
During Holy Week, we remember Jesus suffering, death, and resurrection.\\xa0 One way we do that is by celebrating communion at noon Monday through Thursday.\\xa0 All people are invited, and all baptized Christians are welcome to receive communion.\\xa0 In our chapel at noon, the service lasts for about half an hour.

April 20, 7:30 p.m.
Tenebrae: A time of shadows. \\xa0
In this service, the church experiences the last days of Christ\'s life.\\xa0 Based in an ancient form, our version of this liturgy is non-traditional, intuitive, and experimental.\\xa0 This our third year of doing this kind of Tenebrae.\\xa0 So far, we have found it to be fruitful.\\xa0 Younger children (and some adults) may find some of the imagery disturbing.\\xa0 Childcare is available.

April 21, 7:00 p.m.
Maundy Thursday
At this service, we commemorate Jesus\' institution of the Eucharist (communion), his command to love one another, and his washing of the disciples\' feet.\\xa0 Footwashing as well as communion are part of this time of worship.\\xa0 The stripping of the altar ends this service.\\xa0 All are welcome.\\xa0 Communion is open to all baptized Christians.\\xa0 Childcare is available.

April 22, noon-3:00 p.m.

Good Friday: The Seven Last Words
\\n
Jesus hung on the cross for three hours on the first "Good Friday."\\xa0 We hold an annual vigil during these same hours.\\xa0 While on the cross, he spoke seven times.\\xa0 Our vigil centers around these seven utterances.\\xa0 We use them as a guide for prayer, praise, meditation, and contemplation.\\xa0 All are welcome, some people come for just part of the service.\\xa0 Childcare is available.\\xa0

April 22, 7:00 p.m.
Good Friday: Outdoor Stations of the Cross
Follow Jesus from his temptation in the Garden of Gethsemane through his sufferings to his death on the cross.\\xa0 This service commemorates 14 biblical events while following a large cross around our property.\\xa0 Physical actions are included at some of the stations.\\xa0 All people are welcome, though you will need to be able to walk over uneven ground.\\xa0 Dress appropriately for the weather.

April 24, 5:00 a.m.

The Great Vigil of Easter
\\n
In this most ancient of Christian services, we gather to hear the story of salvation history as we await the dawn.\\xa0 As the sun rises, we have communion together and celebrate the return of Christ from the grave.\\xa0
