God is Bigger

You know, anyone close to me will tell you that I have a big sweet tooth. I love chocolate, caramel, cookies—you name it, and who doesn’t?! These are small temptations, but on occasion, I go through periods of trying to avoid sweets. Sometimes, as silly as it may sound, when I make up my mind to avoid sweets, part of me wants them more than ever.   In life, this sort of thing happens all the time, with things much bigger than just chocolate. For instance, take someone who struggles with an addiction, or who has a damaging or destructive habit. They’ll tell you that trying to change behavior patterns is incredibly difficult. But my friends, take heart! The Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 10:13 that “No temptation has overtaken you beyond what is common to man.” That means nothing we face is new…and God is right there with us. This verse goes on to say, “God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide a way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.”   What are you tempted by right now? Where do you need God’s strength? If you’re a believer, “Christ lives in you.” Pray about it, and ask God for His power and wisdom to live in victory. He is faithful!        This is Luis Palau.
