Believe what God Says

Genesis 15:6 is one of the most quoted verses in the Bible. There we read that Abraham “believed the LORD, and he credited it to him as righteousness.” In the preceding verses, we read that the Lord speaks to Abraham. The two have a little chat. The Lord promised Abraham that he would have a son.  Then the Lord takes Abraham outside and reinforces His promise. Abraham was directed to look at the numberless stars in the sky. Then the Lord adds, “So shall your offspring be.” In other words, the Lord was saying: “Abraham, I’m asking you to accept something that you cannot understand now, but every night the stars will remind you what I have said.” And then comes that famous statement – “Abraham believed the Lord.”  It wasn’t until Abraham was a hundred years old that his son Isaac was born, but he trusted God to fulfil His promise. God has given us promises as well, such as John 11:25.  Jesus said, “The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.”  As Abraham proved, there’s no greater faith than believing what God says. Let’s rest on what He has promised, and tell others about the One they can unhesitatingly put their trust in. This is Luis Palau.
