Executive Director Christine Hein of People\\u2019s Place Thrift Store and Food Pantry (along with many other program) visits RadioRotary, detailing the 24 human service programs run by People\\u2019s Place in Ulster County. The heart of these programs are the food pantry, the thrift store, the Community Caf\\xe9, and the Wellness Empowerment Center, all in Kingston, NY (but serving anyone in need at no cost). The food pantry provides over a million meals a year. The Community Caf\\xe9 serves a continental breakfast and lunch every weekday. The Wellness Empowerment Center has workshops and classes in everything from cooking to yoga and meditation. Although donations are always welcome, much of the income is from sales at the thrift store. The annual Project Santa distributes toys, books, clothing, and snacks to children in need.
