But if we look at Scripture, the answer is very plain.\\xa0 In fact, the Apostle Paul wrote a letter to a group of churches in Galatia, that answers that question emphatically.\\xa0 His answer is that "by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast." Ephesians 2:8-9

We are saved entirely because of God's favor toward us.\\xa0 We didn't and can't earn our salvation.\\xa0 "Nothing to the cross I bring, only to the cross I cling."
