P.1. Path Out Of Porn: Awareness Of The Problem

Published: June 23, 2021, noon

Welcome to episode #62!

In this week's episode, Matt and Braden touch on a wide range of things a porn addiction will effect in a person's life. Tune in for some much needed motivation to address habits that hinder you!

Be aware
Mental health is something people often think of as a separate issue from porn. Other times, they'll see it as the reason they go to porn. Rarely will they think of porn and masturbation as being the reason they have mental health issues. When people quit porn, they often come to experience a healthier mental state.

Our relationships with God and with others vastly improves when we quit porn because when we're stuck in addiction, we choose to hide many parts of who we are and speak to ourselves with condemnation.

Our brains suffer a devastating blow when we're watching porn because there is essential neurological formation that doesn't take place in our brains. We lose the ability to have joy, feel motivated, or be productive in our day-to-day. Porn use hinders our brain from developing the ability to function as we were meant to.

There are so many ways a porn addiction will hamper us in life, so we've got to be aware of it's far-reaching effects.

Get honest
You have to admit you have a problem if you're ever going to get better and get free. Realizing the various areas in your life that have been impacted by porn will give you a kick in the butt to start dealing with this stuff - if you'll be willing to come to terms with the damage sexual immorality has caused in your life. Be willing to look at your life and start to realize that your addiction has possibly harmed you and others in more ways than you've known.

Get hungry!!
Get hungry for freedom! Be desperate! Be searching for support every day by seeking mentors, learning about addiction, praying without ceasing. Think of how not eating for 14 days would make you feel when the option to eat was made available to you again. You'd be desperate to get your hands on it! You haven't tasted lasting freedom for way too long, so get hungry for freedom in your life!
