God's Heart For You

Published: March 10, 2021, 11 a.m.

Welcome to episode #46!

This week, Matt and Braden share the God's heart and love for each listener. Whether you've struggled with habitual sin for decades or not, being assured of how He loves us is so vital to flourishing in life.

God Constantly Pursues
When we're in sin and feel distant from God, He is always pursuing us. He is desiring relationship with us above anything and is continually drawing us in with His gentle kindness. However, He doesn't pursue us so aggressively that it gets in the way of our choice. After Braden got into a car accident where it was a miracle that nobody died, God told Him that He could continue partying and doing drugs if he wanted to, but that God had better things for Him. God pursues, but He does it gently.

God Romances Us
He is our bridegroom. He wants to make us feel prioritized, loved, and cherished all the time. Imagine how a man romances a girl he wants to date or how a groom romances his wife on their wedding day. God is a god of every kind of love and is constantly trying to romance our hearts with His affection. Are we open to receive it though? Or are we too wrapped up in shame and guilt over our sin that we miss the little gifts God gives us?

We Make Too Much Sense
God's grace doesn't make sense. The way He thinks about us and believes in us even when we're in sin doesn't make sense. In our minds, when we sin, we should be punished. We should be in trouble. God definitely shouldn't want to be with us. But God doesn't make sense in response to our grace. He covers us, forgets about our sin, and carries on loving us. Which thoughts about you in response to your sin make perfect sense to you? They probably don't line up with the thoughts of God.
