Former NHL Star Ryan Walter: A Marriage In The Spotlight

Published: Feb. 17, 2021, 7:09 a.m.

Welcome to episode #43!

This week, Braden and his better half (wife Kristen), continue their chat with former NHL player Ryan Walter and his wife Jenn. They discuss how they built and maintained intimacy in marriage while navigating a pro hockey career.

Connection Requires Intentionality
Ryan and Jenn were able to build intimacy and connection because they were intentional in doing so. They both learned what each other needed in regards to feeling loved, so they intentionally leaned into those areas whether Ryan was at home or on the road. This keeps the unity and fulfillment in a marriage high so that spouses don't feel disconnected and tempted to stray.

Connection Requires Consistency
Intimacy and connection are built over time and it requires ongoing consistency. Ryan and Jenn carved out consistent time to connect in their mornings despite the temptation to sleep in. It was an ongoing choice to take action in connecting, but they've reaped the rewards of this consistency over time by maintaining long-term and satisfying intimacy over the life of their marriage

Connection Is Worth The Effort!
Building a marriage is about investing in one another. Investing in a marriage means time, energy, and creativity because a good marriage never just happens on its own. The effort required to build your marriage is worth every moment invested because you'll end up reaping a happy, productive, and fun marriage till death does you part.
