Welcome to episode #161! This week, Matt and Braden talk with Chris Scheele about the impact that financial stress has on pornography and sexually addictive behaviour.

Porn use and financial stress are related
Men and women can both feel financial stress in various ways. Often when that stress is carried and not processed, it becomes too much to handle and leads to unhealthy reactions. One of those reactions is to escape into pornography or other sexual outlets. If healthy patterns of handling finances are established, the benefits spill over into many areas of a person\'s life.

Money communication can change a marriage\\xa0

Spouses almost always have different ways of viewing, spending, and saving money. This can lead to things like financial infidelity, lying, resentment, and more. It might take a couple of hard conversations to get both spouses on the same page, but finding ways to work together and formulate a plan that works for your marriage can have positive effects on your finances, as well as on your marriage as a whole.

You are charged by God to handle money well

Some people disqualify themselves from stepping up to lead financially when they are guilt-ridden due to their porn use. God has given you a responsibility to steward, use, and grow the finances He has given you. If there is miscommunication or building resentment in your marriage due to money, step up and lead by having hard conversations, surrendering your will for the sake of the marriage, and repent and forgive your spouse where hurts have been felt. Doing this will lessen your desire for a sexual escape and increase the intimacy in relationship and peace in finances that you carry with you.
