Hey Everyone, Angela Bowen here, the host of Together, We're Gonna Find Our Way: An Unofficial Silver Spoons Podcast. Today, I covered S5E21: Pardon My French, which aired on February 27, 1987. In this episode Grandfather Stratton returns from France, surprising everyone with his much younger fiancée. I liked this episode, I was a little suspicious of Grandfather Stratton's fiancée's intentions at first, but turns out the one who had the real problem and came off as a giant jerk to the point of being downright aggravating was Edward. He was incredibly insulting to Jacqueline. Claiming French women are all the same, labeling her a gold digger. Thankfully Edward's father corrects him and puts him in his place. I loved the scene between Jacqueline and Rick as she gives him advice on how to handle his now ex girlfriend Chrissy and win her back. and S5E22: Educating Rick, which aired on March 2, 1987. In this episode Disappointed by Rick's interest in party schools, Edward steers him toward a more rigorous all-male college. But when Rick and Brad attend an open-house weekend, they have a hard time restraining their interest in the local female students. Edward really got in my craw this episode, trying to bribe his son with a car just so he'll decide to go to an all male college instead of a party school. This episode was also directed by Joel Higgins (Edward Stratton the 3rd). I'd say he did a good job. Join me next week for the final two episodes of Silver Spoons, S5E23: Edward's Big Adventure, which aired on March 3, 1987. In this episode Bored by being left home alone, Edward ventures out to a bar he used to frequent in college, but loses his wallet while dealing with a pool shark. and S5E24: Let It Snow, Let It Snow, which aired on March 4, 1987. In this episode Kate and Edward try to have a romantic weekend in the snow, but Rick, Alfonso, Brad and Dexter spoil their plans. Getting time alone is impossible, especially when a blizzard hits their cabin. Have a great week everyone and Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
