Hey Everyone, Angela Bowen here, the host of Together, We're Gonna Find Our Way: An Unofficial Silver Spoons Podcast. Here is S1E17: Popcorn, which aired on February 5, 1983. In this episode when his school orchestra needs to raise money for a trip to Washington, D.C., Ricky commits Edward to buying 1000 bags of popcorn, without his approval or knowledge - but when Edward declines, Ricky has to sell the popcorn at the mall. At the mall we see many characters that Ricky and Edward try to sell popcorn to one fancy dressed man who looks like Ian McKellan wants a particular bag on popcorn that's located preferably on the bottom of this large cardboard box because he feels it's fresher, thus having Edward toss all the bags on to the floor and practically climbs into the box to get the last remaining bag, to which the guy asks if Edward takes any of the major credit cards as payment. WTH, guy! This is 1983, you're like 15 years to early for this type of thing, like the credit card swiper on the phone app. Plus it was $1, you're telling me this well dressed man didn't have a dollar on him? Ricky smooth talks this lady in a fur lined coat into buying three bags of popcorn, but cuts him off before he can talk her into a fourth bag. Plus those are pretty big bags of popcorn, so in my opinion, people are getting their money's worth. At one point Edward has a ripped bag and offers a sample piece to this one guy who spends I kid you not at least five minutes chewing on this one piece of popcorn, before he asks for another piece because he's unsure if he wants to commit $1 to a whole bag. The whole time this guy is chewing he takes off his glasses and put them on again as Edward gets right in his face looking at his expression like he's waiting for confirmation that this guy will buy a bag. Next week, we see Ricky running an ice cream parlor for a week for a school assignment in S1E18: Junior Businessman, which aired on February 12, 1983. Have a Happy New Years Everyone!
