Host Leo Clark had a difficult childhood. He and his younger siblings were born into a troubled family, abandoned by their mother, and raised for a time by their alcoholic father. At age 5, Leo and his brother and sister began their journey through the foster care system. This brought them to 17 different neighborhoods into the foster homes of white, black, Mexican, rich, and poor families.

Leo realized at an early age that the best way to ride out the years until he could age out, was to develop confidence and a positive outlook.
