Today we are thrilled to be joined by Amanda Bestor-Siegal to discuss her debut novel, The Caretakers, which is an emotionally riveting novel set in a wealthy Parisian suburb told from the point of view of six women, and centered around a group of au pairs, one of whom is arrested after a sudden and suspicious tragedy strikes her host family. The Caretakers is a dramatic exploration of identity, class, and caregiving.

We chat with Amanda about how the seed for this story came from her experience as an au pair in Paris, the development of these six complicated women, the idea of mothering and caretaking in all its forms, infidelity as a means of escape, and her serendipitous  path from MFA student to publication.
