National Geographic Rebuilding Paradise Directed by Ron Howard

This week we're talking about the National Geographic documentary Rebuilding Paradise about the devastation of the 2018 Camp Fire. The town of Paradise California became the epicenter of the deadliest fire in the US in over 100 years. Here are some resources to help the continued recovery of Paradise:

PARADISE ROTARY FOUNDATION The Paradise Rotary Foundation is a 501(c)3 charitable foundation, established in 2009 as a means to receive and distribute funds to support community projects and organizations. The Foundation’s mission is to financially assist non-profits whose efforts improve the quality of life in Paradise. The Foundation’s present focus is on the rebuilding and re-population of Paradise following the Camp Fire. BUTTE STRONG FUNDThe Butte Strong Fund is a partnership of the North Valley Community Foundation, Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. and Aaron Rodgers NorCal Fire Recovery Fund. It is focused on long-term rebuilding and funds projects and organizations within five focus areas: housing, health and wellness, education, community development, and business recovery. CAMP FIRE COLLABORATIVE The Camp Fire Collaborative (CFC) is a community collaboration comprised of over 50 nonprofit, private, and public organizations working to address the unmet needs of Camp Fire survivors throughout the Butte County region following the exhaustion of federal and state resources. The collaboration identifies long-term recovery issues and develops strategies utilizing their combined vision and resources.

<h4>AMERICAN RED CROSSThe American Red Cross’ network of generous donors, volunteers and employees shares a mission of preventing and relieving suffering, at home and around the world. Red Cross volunteers and staff work to deliver vital services – from providing relief and support to those in crisis, to helping you be prepared to respond in emergencies. For 2018 wildfire survivors across California, the American Red Cross allocated $27 million in direct financial assistance.</h4>

TEAM RUBICON Team Rubicon is an international disaster response nonprofit that unites the skills and experiences of military veterans with first responders to rapidly provide relief to communities in need. Founded in 2010 with the expressed goal of quickly responding to large-scale disasters, Team Rubicon has deployed thousands of volunteers across the United States and world to provide relief to communities in need. GARY SINISE FOUNDATION The Gary Sinise Foundation serves the United States of America by honoring its defenders, veterans, first responders, their families, and those in need. They do this by creating and supporting unique programs designed to entertain, educate, inspire, strengthen, and build communities. Through the Gary Sinise Foundation’s First Responders Outreach, the Foundation provides help and critical funding for emergency relief, training, and essential equipment to ensure these heroes perform to the best of their abilities.
