If it weren’t for a little movie called Parasite, Robert Eggers’ The Lighthouse would have emerged as Cannes’s most exciting premiere. But his sophomore film, which stars Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe as two increasingly batshit lighthouse keepers, was nonetheless critically acclaimed and ultimately got an Oscar nomination for Best Cinematography.
