Gerald Diaz, MD, is a physician, former software engineer and founder of GrepMed, a free, image-based medical reference platform that serves as a more efficient alternative to text-heavy resources. Their mission is to democratize the medical reference space to reduce clinician burnout by leveraging images to shortcut the information retrieval process.\\xa0 GrepMed makes it easy for clinicians to find, share and bookmark management algorithms, checklists, decision aids, diagnostics schemas, POCUS videos, physical exam clips and much more.\\xa0 GrepMed recently crossed over 800k image impressions per day and is being used in over 190 countries worldwide.

We talk about how he started to develop the app, he gives some advice for those out there with an idea for an application, what the term Ramen-profitable means and why that applies to bootstrapping your own business, and how he tries to stay on top of the search engine algorithms.

Dr. Diaz graduated from Stanford with a BS in Computer Science and worked as a software developer for 4 years before receiving his MD from St Louis University.\\xa0 He completed 2 years of radiology training\\xa0before switching specialties to internal medicine, completing his residency at UC Davis in 2016.\\xa0 Gerald currently works full time\\xa0as a hospitalist while bootstrapping the development of GrepMed as a side project.
