b'A week ago there was a massive and peaceful justice for George Floyd demonstration in Philadelphia that filled the space between the Philadelphia Museum of Art and City Hall with a diverse and mostly young crowd demanding reforms to a system that led to the police involved death of not only George Floyd but has sustained economic disparities that have led to the disproportionate numbers of deaths of people of color during this COVID Pandemic.

I had the pleasure of emceeing a virtual town hall sponsored by Public Citizens for Children and Youth that featured some truly inspiring young activists and adult allies having a meaningful conversation about addressing racism in America. I’m bringing you an excerpt but if you’d like to see the entire PCCY’s Teen Town Hall – Let’s Talk About Race check out this link:

First - trauma can take many forms – it can be physical and it can be emotional. For people of color – trauma can be an outgrowth of living with racism. For under resourced communities it would be the result of exposure to violent crime. We’re going to talk about what one hospital is doing to address it. I speak with Dr. Erica Harris who heads Einstein Medical Center’s Trauma Intervention Program.
