What's Going On: Special Olympics PA Philly Polar Plunge. Greater Philadelphia MLK Day of Service

b'Despite intense peer pressure from my close friends who in previous years have jumped into the Atlantic for the Polar Plunge - I\'ve managed to avoid joining in because I\'m just not a big fan of freezing cold water. But this year - I am moved to set aside my fears and participate in the 2022 Philly Polar Plunge to benefit a dear cause - Special Olympics PA. I speak to Jon Blitzer, Events Director East, Special Olympics Pennsylvania about the upcoming event that spans over two days: January 28th and on 29th the big Plunge at Citizens Bank Park. We\'ll tell you how to join and the different options including a virtual event and one for chickens (not me for once) who want to help but can\'t or won\'t take the Plunge.

Monday January 17th marks the 27th Annual Greater Philadelphia Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service - the largest service event marking the King Holiday in the Nation. I speak with its founder and Executive Director of Global Citizen, Todd Bernstein. Bernstein fills us in on the events of the day including thousands of service projects, a virtual job fair with real jobs and a COVID 19 Vaccine and testing clinic also offering free flu shots.
