We all need to find our Happy Place don’t we? I speak with Nikole Vallins Creative Producer at Faculty Productions about (wait for it) Happy Place which features an assortment of fun, larger-than-life installations, multi-sensory immersive rooms, and dozens of moments curated to “Capture Your Happy.” largest indoor Confetti Dome, jumping off a massive rainbow into a pot of happiness, and posing inside the venue’s signature tub full of rubber duckies plus much more. It is an experience that has proven to be an innovative family attraction much like a spontaneous theme park breaking out in an otherwise unused space. It was dubbed “The Most Instagramable Pop-Up in America” by Urban Daddy. I speak with Nikole about the Happy Place upcoming take over at the King of Prussia Mall. You may recall the immersive pop-up experience will be there from October 5 through January 5.

One of my all-time favorite birthdays was celebrated at the AIDS Fund’s monthly Gay BINGO. GayBINGO is the fabulous, irreverent, campy, wildly popular monthly event that has been entertaining Philadelphia audiences for over 20 years while raising emergency funds for those living with HIV. GayBINGO is hosted by the infamous Bingo Verifying Divas (BVDs!) – a wild bunch of drag queens who entertain the crowd with their wacky humor and always outrageous costumes. GayBINGO promises to be an evening of unbridled fun, complete with ridiculous musical numbers, hilarious drag queen antics, chances to win fabulous prizes, all for a good cause. I interview Robb Reichard, Executive Director of the AIDS Fund and Bingo Verifying Diva Stella D’Oro (AKA Tim Johnson, Associate Director of AIDS Fund).

Entertainment Weekly calls SLAY “The YA debut we’re most excited for this year.” Now that I’ve read it – the book deserves the hype. I speak with author Brittney Morris who’s written a page turner seventeen-year-old Kiera Johnson is an honors student, a math tutor, and one of the only Black kids at Jefferson Academy. But at home, she joins hundreds of thousands of Black gamers who duel worldwide as Nubian personas in the secret multiplayer online role-playing card game, SLAY. The game is infiltrated by a troll who threatens to sue Kiera for “anti-white discrimination.” The book examines Keira journey as she learns to harness how to be unapologetically Black in world intimidated by Blackness.
