b'Newly appointed Philadelphia School Superintendent Dr. Tony Watlington has some huge challenges ahead including increasing high school graduation rates, supporting students in achieving reading and math skills at grade level and addressing the violence that impacts so many of our kids. I had a chance to speak with Dr. Watlington about plans for his first 100 days which include a “listening and learning” tour that offers the community to provide feedback on “what the District does well, where improvement is needed and how the District can help all students fulfill their highest potential.”

First, DHS estimates about 4,300 children need nurturing homes - a safe place while DHS works to reunite the family - and if that\'s not possible provide a permanent loving home for these children. That’s where foster care comes in. I speak to Tabitha Seehousen, Foster Care Social Worker for Catholic Social Services who outlines how families can foster children and shares her own experience as a foster parent.
