Loraine Ballard Morrill spoke with Chelsea Eiel who has a gallery and workshop space in Kensington called the Common Room that supports artists with a message. The mission of The Common Room is to provide its artists with a voice, a face, and a paycheck. Its vision is to become a hub for collaboration and social change, through intentional workshops, impactful community events, and citywide networking with other women and minority owned businesses.

Loraine chats with the remarkable Dr. David Fajgenbaum who is living with a rare illness called Castleman Disease about the challenges of fighting a condition hard to diagnose and like many other rare diseases – difficult to find research funding. But first an interview with Wendy Williams, Coordinator of the Public Awareness Committee of Philadelphia Intellectual disAbilities Services, a division of DBHIDS, about the upcoming IDS Art Exhibit. Dozens of artists with intellectual disabilities will display their art work, from paintings to ceramics to t-shirts, in the Historic Lobby of 701 Market Street in Philadelphia, on Friday, August 14, from 10am to 3pm. All of the art work will be for sale. The public is invited. Also discussed the upcoming Points of Transformation Awards celebrating the accomplishments of those who have committed their careers to supporting people with an intellectual disAbility.
