This episode is a review of a study published last month in the American Journal of Cardiology titled \u201cRelation of Biomarkers and Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging After Marathon Running\u201d.\nWe use terms and phrases such as \u201cyou\u2019ve got to have heart\u201d and \u201cdon\u2019t go breakin\u2019 my heart\u201d as a reference to the symbolic vessel we have within us to harbor our capacity to love.\xa0 \nIn reality the heart is an important organ, strategically located in the center of our bodies to provide oxygen rich blood throughout the vessels of our body as a means to sustain life.\xa0 While these bodies we inhabit are amazing creations, capable of running great distances\u2026it\u2019s important to take care.\xa0 We\u2019re all soft and squishy creatures; resilient yet fragile, strong yet capable of suffering injury\u2026when you pull a leg muscle or sprain an ankle: you can apply ice and deep massage: it\u2019s not so easy to do that with our hearts.\nTraining for any distance, any kind of race event: especially for distances like a marathon requires proper training; many of the experts suggest that you don\u2019t even start training to run a marathon until you\u2019ve been out on the road consistently for a full year.\nNever, EVER start a marathon training program until you\u2019re doctor gives you the green light\u2026it\u2019s one thing to have to deal with shin splints and muscle soreness, but your heart needs to be prepared for the stress you\u2019ll put it under; out there on the road.\nShow Links:Fdip Blog of the Week: Featured PodCast: Fusion ViewThe song \u201cListen to Your Heartbeat\u201d by Lance Larson (with Bon Jovi)
