Courage On Fire (full sermon)

Fiery furnaces are a form of torture that’s not allowed in today’s society. Yet, no doubt, we can approach today’s text with a keen understanding of what it feels like to be hot. Yes, we can appreciate this text because we recognize that to be threatened with fire is a conforming concept. And there are times in your life when your not facing the heat of a furnace, yet you feel like the heat in the room has been turned up. There are times in our lives when there’s no king Nebuchadnezzar sitting on a throne. But there’s a supervisor or parent or teacher or family member who’s made it their business to lord over you in ways that can literally make you hot under the collar. And if you’re not cautious and if you’re not careful, the way you handle the heat can change your life. If you’re not watchful and if you don’t know how to respond to your own personal Nebuchadnezzar you can find yourself missing out on the blessings and promises of God.
