b'39, I\'m Still Here

Miki is a grief long-hauler. She lost her mother Amy when she was 13. Her mom was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer when Miki was 11, and they spent the next several years fighting and going through treatments. Even though Miki\'s mom was sick, no one in the family discussed or thought about the fact that her mom might not survive. So in a way, Miki\'s loss was very sudden, and definitely flipped her teenage world upside down.

Miki took some time before coming to terms with this thing called grief. Now that she is married and a bit older, she has really been doing some work on herself, and because of this, she is able to bring many things to the grief community.

Miki is a grief musician, author, and hosts her own weekly show, The Healing Half. We discussed the release of Miki\'s newest song at the time, Light a Candle For Me, and now that some time has passed since we spoke, she has just released another new song, A Cold Dark Room. Be sure to check out her music, and the great things available on her website!

Miki\'s advice:

All loss is hard. Don\'t do yourself the disservice of comparing your grief to anyone else\'s.
