Jorden Giger on Black Lives Matter and Community Organizing in South Bend, Indiana

Published: Oct. 12, 2020, 1:20 p.m.

Jorden Giger is a founder of Black Lives Matter — South Bend. For the last four years he has worked to address issues in local public policy, budgeting and spending. Through his efforts, along with members of his chapter, he successfully blocked punitive public school policies designed to revoke driver’s licenses and work permits for high school students and lobbied for the first-ever racial wealth divide study in South Bend. Currently, his chapter is engaged in substantive police reform work that will create a civilian-led Police Complaint Board with subpoena power.
