Jim Harper is a Northwest Indiana native. He was born and raised in Valparaiso
Jim went on to receive his law degree, with high honors, from Georgetown University. Upon graduating, he completed a federal judicial clerkship in Indianapolis and served as a public defender in New Orleans. Jim co-founded a national non-profit law firm that has represented hundreds of veterans seeking disability benefits for injuries they sustained during their service. Now, Jim is running for Indiana’s open 1st Congressional District in order to provide a new generation of leadership for our region. Jim is committed to fighting for bold, progressive action to create good-paying union jobs, ensure affordable healthcare for every American, and combat climate change. Jim believes deeply in progressive priorities like Medicare for All, criminal justice reform, and a fairer tax structure.
