When the seminal book Design Patterns made its public debut\\n at ooPSLA 1994, the world of\\n software developers changed forever. Soon everyone wanted\\n to learn patterns and, even better, write patterns -- to\\n document their knowledge of what software to build, and how.

\\n\\n

That same year, a new sort of conference debuted as well,\\n Pattern Languages of Programs, and in 2007, PLoP continues\\n to provide an opportunity for pattern writers to improve\\n their work and form communities with other software\\n developers.

\\n\\n

The patterns community has always had a close relationship\\n with ooPSLA, culminating in the\\n co-location of PLoP 2006 with ooPSLA\\n in Portland. This year PLoP returns to Allerton Park, but\\n ooPSLA again offers folks a touch\\n of PLoP in the form of two workshops, a Pattern Writing\\n Bootcamp and a Writers Workshops for Papers in Software\\n Development.

\\n\\n

Listen to this podcast to hear Daniel Steinberg of\\n DimSumThinking chat with workshop organizers Linda Rising,\\n Bob Hanmer, and Joe Yoder about patterns, pattern writing,\\n and the excitement of Mini-PLoP at\\n ooPSLA.
