Welcome to Journey to the Blue Sky, a new animated studio retrospective where Arun and Patricia look back at all the animated projects done by Blue Sky Studios. In the first episode of Journey to the Blue Sky, they look back at the 2002 animated film Ice Age starring Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, and Denis Leary. Millions of years in the ice age, a mammoth named Manny and a sloth named Sid are going on a journey to take a baby boy back to its pack before they leave far away from their meet up point. A saber tooth tiger named Diego is tasked to capture the baby to the leader of the pack to kill it. Diego then pretends to help Manny and Sid to lead the baby towards his family, but in reality is going to have them ambushed. Meanwhile, a squirrel named Scrat is chasing around an acorn with crazy shenanigans occurring.

When the film premiered in theaters, it made over $383 million dollars out of a $59 million dollar budget. It was praised by critics and viewers with its animation, characters, humor, and story. This would not only mark the premiere of Blue Sky Studios competing alongside Pixar, DreamWorks, and Disney with producing 3D animated films, but the beginning of an franchise.
