In this episode of DreamMachine, Patricia and Arun discuss about the 2nd last 2D DreamWorks animated film, the 2002 movie Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron. The movie is about a wild stallion named Spirit who lives a perfect life with his mother and his herd in the Wild West during the 19th century. However, he\'s captured by the U.S. army to tame him to be used to conquer Native American territory. But he\'s too wild to be controlled and befriends a Native American boy named Little Creek. They both escape and Little Creek returns home to his tribe where Spirit meets another horse named Rain. Spirit goes through his ups and downs from falling in love with Rain, being captured again, escaping from a fire, and reuniting with Little Creek. Will Spirit return home to his mother and herd? Or will he live a completely different life not familiar to what he\'s accustomed to?  When the movie premiered in theaters, it was a modest hit making $122 million dollars with an $80 million dollar budget receiving positive reviews. However, it wasn\'t a major hit compared to their previous DreamWorks films, so it was gently pushed to the side. It wouldn\'t be until May 5, 2017 that Spirit would get an animated series on Netflix focusing on a little girl named Lucky who befriends Spirit and Rain\'s foal whose also named Spirit.
